With the (Sea) Lions of the North out, what's next for EUIV?

South America or Middle East?

Personally (and I'm bias) I would prefer South America, being also a chance to correct some wrongs done with Golden Century 2, revamping the natives there, and also later game tags.

I'm actually excited due to the excellent job done by the Tinto team so far, kep it up!

If you are speaking about DLCs, then I'd prefer Middle East expansion, just as were anounced somewhere. But, if you are meaning every available content, then I'd like to see a free patch, reworking old missions, especially Russian, which are conquer-this-then-conqer-that abomination right now.

Middle east was the last region that was updated before missions got added, and because of it, is seriously lacking in its flavor. In general, middle east is a great region to play that feels very outdated.

Previously, there was alternation between DLCs and free patches, is it still so? Because if they want to sell South American rework for actual money, they will need to pack it with the rework of some other region Leviathan-style. Otherwise, I don't think it will sell good.

I think that @Johan himself confirmed that Middle East is next. After that probably South America. Also i would like to revisit some old missions for certain nations.

no.

I did tell some of the plans at pdxcon though.

generally I dont think there needs to be any more major DLCs, just flavour packs that add missions to areas that lack them currently.
I actually think the opposite, I would love new big mechanics instead of local flavor.

I think it's a bit to late in development for major mechanical reworks. We finally got better performance and AI in 1.34. Adding more mechanics to 10 year old code is risky.

I believe well made Flavour Packs are the way to go.

Caucasus region (Armenia, Georgia, Circassia, Chechenia, Azerbaijan) would be a good idea for Flavour Pack. Their missions are barebones and they lack achievements. It would nicely fit between already reworked Persian and "Horde" regions in the north. As a bonus, you could add something to the Cossacks and Crimeans since they were unique powers in the Black Sea regions that are not that well represented in the game sadly.

Since we got playable Aborigines, which proves that for EU4 Gameplay>Historical accuracy, maybe we could get more playable Siberian tags, like Yakuts or Chukchi. Yes, we have few tags in Kamchatkan region, but they lack flavour. Few more tags and rework for already existing ones wouldn't hurt.

Brazil/Patagonia is another good idea. Natives there never got any reworks.

People talk about Middle East, but which countries do you mean exactly? Maghreb region was nicely reworked in Golden Century, Mamluks in Craddle of Civilization, Persians and Timurids quite recently too.

Only Lebanon, Palestine and Arabia are lacking a bit in the Middle East. Maybe it could actually nicely fit for "Crusader" themed DLC.

I have to agree. Reworks to old regions/flavour packs are the way to go.

The new shiny units in the lions of the North are envy inducing.

Well… The Middle East got its update in Cradle of Civilization while South America got some attention… when? Conquest of Paradise, El Dorado? So yeah for the time being I don’t think it’s Middle East’s turn.

I reckon they could fit this in with a rework of the middle east too, eg Mamlucks and Ottomans etc. That would be an enough nations for a decent sized immersion pack.

Middle east. Ottomans and Mamluks are the major nation who have bad missions and flavours. Also persia is the player's favourite tag. The reason why lion of north was appreciated was because of the many players playing scandinavia and baltic countries. Leviathan and Origin disaster must not be repeated.
