I just purchased SoI and the african units, have them both selected in the launcher.. but when I launch the game it has the stupid little pop up saying new DLC available and when I select any of the muslim nations it says I need the DLC. I've verified my files with steam, still nothing, deleted the DLC folder completely and redownloaded it with steam, still nothing. What gives?

There's a thread in the Bug Reports forum on the African DLC issue, I believe there are fixes in there.

The solution is (or was, at least for me) to run CK2 from within Steam once. It will do some configuring, and afterwards you can return to running the exe-file directly. All DLC will work flawlessly.

EDIT: I did also verify the game cache while on steam and before re-trying my direct shortcut, maybe that was part of the solution, too.

Launching from steam seems to work.. but everytime I launch it from steam it goes through the process of installing C++ and something else which is kind of annoying, but thanks for the reply all the same.

There's a fix for that in the sticky Known Issues thread above.
