Some questions I have...

1 - How can I appoint generals/admirals to diferent armies/navies?

2 - what happens if I disband an army with a general? Will he 'disband' too?

3 - Is there a list of armies/fleets where I can look at a glance where they all are?

4 - If I choose to play Portugal in the Grand Campaign at the start and take a look at my navy I can see I have 24 warships. But in reality I can only find 2 fleets, one with 18 warships plus 5 transports and the other with 3 warships. Where are the last 3 warships?

5 - This is really strange but where can I choose the merge option to join the two starting fleets in Lisbon (the ones mentioned above)?

Please, help me to start playing this fantastic game...

Thanks in advance,

1. This is easier to do than to explain. My suggestion: Load the Portugal GC and mess around with the Reorganize and Merge buttons for awhile. It'll come to you, I promise.

2. Don't know for sure. Just don't do it.

3. There's a list of armies/navies in the Archive (the little red book at the bottom right of the menu). It lists your armies and navies and tells you where they are.

4. Look a little closer. You have two Explorers (Diaz and Corte Somebody), each of whom has 3 warships. Corte is in Lisbon. Diaz is in Cape Verde (you missed him, didn't you?) You also have some stiff in Lisbon with 18 warships and 5 transports. Total: 24 warships and 5 transports.

5. You can merge two navies or two armies if you have them both selected. To select them, left-click and drag a box around them on the map. The menu will now say, '2 navies selected' and the Merge button will be highlighted. (I'll warn you now, though, be careful about merging two Explorers or two Conquistadors. The game will assign the navy/army to one of them and the other one can then be hard to split off to get another army. I'm sure there's some easy way to do it that I just haven't figured out yet.)

Have fun.

1) You have to use reorganize and split to move them around.

2) Generals will not disband, but will still exist as an 'army' without troops.

3) There is one in the archive, but since you can't goto the armies from there, it isn't very useful.

To separate two leaders from each other, just select Split and the two forces will be commanded by the two different leaders.
