so , i'm still having fun with the game, best $5 i spent in awhile. but, as always i don't know what i'm doing, so i came here to get the answers.

i don't get notified when a vassal leaves my realm, either through inheritance or just leaving. there i am scrolling across the map, when i see a little blob of white, where my green color should be. what, when, who? then i offer vassalization, and of course they decline. so it's force of arms, and there goes more bb on to the pile. but why and when. shouldn't i get a note from someone in my court. y'know a little heads up?

also, i had one of my dukes die and his son took over, and i had no idea. again, a quick letter to the king would be nice, especially as it was an uncle of mine. i know i don't make it to every little family get together, but i am king, i'm a little busy, but i should at least know when he dies.

i looked through the settings, and thought i had set the m up correctly, but it seems that i am missing something.

and another bonus question, is there any way to help the odds of someone accepting to be my vassal? i have crappy diplo stats, but i have a great chancellor, so my diplo is 20, plus i have massive pres and pretty good piety.

thanks

Saly the notification system is not really that good ... you either get too little information, or it is information overload. So until CK2, there is no way for you to get this information from the game.

Some seem to think that if you give them a bribe first they are a bit more cooperative :) and have some territory in his natural realm ... but generally, asking for someone to be your vassal is difficult at best. They rarely accept. Also if they are so inclined, they tend to ask for vassalization. Also if they accept your vassalization request, you get BB for every province they bring to your realm. If they ask you, you do not get any BB.

As for getting vassals back in the fold, you should force-vassalize them, wheich is BB neutral. If you give up the claim on their title in the process, you cn actually lose BB. If they rebel again at some point, you regain the claim automatically. Small civil wars and a few rebellious vassals can do wonders for a powermonger with a bad reputation ;)

i thought the notifications were bad, just wanted to make sure i wasn'r missing something.

i'll try the gifts. maybe, and see if they ask me. i did not know about the bb hit for you asking someone to become your vassal. thanks

and that last bit of info is great. i usually do force-vass rebellious counts, but i never gave up the claim for fear i would need it again. i usually have alot of bb just from crusades. but that will help
