Okay, I've never been in a position where annexing a major even might be feasible, but as far as I understand, it's not allowed in the GC. To that, I have a few questions:

1. If you go into the saved game files and change the "major=" status from yes to no, will a major then be annexable?

2. If you've reduced a major down to one province, and you want to avoid the hassle of it going to war with you every 10 years, could you just occupy it in war and then never declare peace? I don't think this would trigger a White Peace, correct (because the player would be holding a province.) What about war exhaustion? Would that then end up rising after 5 years of holding the province? (I'm not familiar with exactly how the war exhaustion formula works.)

3. This probably wouldn't be feasible without editing a saved game, but what if, through sieges and occupation, a major's last province were completely wiped out?

Thanks for any answers on these questions!

1) No. Check out Husziks FAQ. It's one of the sticky posts.

2) I agree it wouldn't trigger a white peace if you hold territory, but war exhaustion can be bad news. Revolt risk progressively rises - if you have a multi-religious realm, and have adjusted the religious sliders to accomodate that, revolt risk will inevitably rise after a few years.

3) The "majors" cannot be annexed. But, the FAQ shows how the save game can be edited to allow annexation.

Cheers

1+3) You can edit the save files so that a "major" power isn't a major anymore. However, it requires more than simply changing "major=yes" to "major=no". See Huszics' FAQ for exact on everything to change (it isn't too much).

2) Since the war would never end, you would get constantly increasing war exhaustion revolt risk.
