Built my first medium dome in my current campaign and a few moments later a meteor storm arrived directly in my small zone. The dome got hit 10+ times and every hit took 5 polymer for a repair. I don't want to imagine what would have happened, if I had more domes in this area.

I know there is a tech to build defenses against meteor storms, but this tech is pretty late (at least in my games). It would have been cheaper to close the dome and build a new one. I would have done it, if it would be possible to stop repairs and salvage domes, but things aren't possible as far as I know...

Why are the repair costs for domes so high? The other damaged buildings were a lot lower, although they were higher tech too.

Edit: It's also great if a meteor hits a ressource depot and deletes all the ressources (RIP polymer and fuel).

The automatic, unnecessary, incessant repair/maintenance is extremely stupid, and that seems to be the root of your problem.

Drones will repair solar panels at any time, instead of timing it just before dawn and they'll also repair moisture vaporizers at the beginning of dust storms.
Most importantly: when one of them decided that a building needs maintenance there's nothing you can do to stop them besides salvaging the building.
It's just a resource sink.

Hopefully they'll patch this soon.

Pretty much. I admit, that I rushed the medium dome before I had a steady flow of polymer (just wanted to try something out) and the disaster hit me right before I got everything in order, which forced me to deplete my money for polymer, but it wasn't necessary to repair the dome immediately. I had enough oxygen in storage and could have cut it off to be completely safe (In the end I would have salvaged it and build it new if I could. Too bad the game doesn't allow me to act in such a way). But I just couldn't do something to stop the drones to repair the dome.

And another thing I don't like is, that the defense tech isn't earlier in the tree. For me it's just logical to have a defense before a disaster could destroy the whole colony. Better safe than sorry.

Ohh yeah, you can definitely play around the AI problems, especially under 400% difficulty. I'm delaying my max difficulty playthrough because of the lack of micromanagement options. It's still possible I guess, but too annoying for me.

I guess you're right about the defense system realistically, but that would seriously lower the danger of meteors. Then they would just need to increase the other disasters or add another source to keep the same level of challenge, so in the end it might not matter at all where that defense tech is.
But I understand your point, especially after losing all that polymer for no good reason.

I don't like too many things need electric parts to maintain and they're a pain to make since even the building that MAKES them needs them to maintain it. So you're making less than it tells you since you have to keep repairing it with the parts that it makes.

Fuel explosion? That's why i disallow fuel in my universals

^This

You need to never ever allow fuel in your universal storages. Make only dedicated fuel storages and place them away from anything else. I'd also periodically grab fuel from a well stocked depot with the transporter and move it to another fuel depot so that one meteor does not take out 100+ fuel in one shot. Keep it well dispersed and isolated.

I'm not sure this works everywhere, but I turn off the building to avoid it get auto-repaired. If the building is not critically necessary for the moment, maybe you can take some risk to spare the repair cost. (but of course, not the dome! I'm talking about some small gadgets like solar panels.)
