With my current Germany Normal/Weakling game I decided to give myself something of a challenge and did not launch a 1940 Sealion to give the Allies some chance on the western front and instead tried to bring them down by an u-boot campaign. Checking up on the UK I saw they had a whopping 5000+ convoys, but only 10 or so escorts  . As soon as the war started on September 1st 1939 I had u-boots raiding the British shipping lanes. For over 2 and a half years I have been massacring convoys at a rate of about 10 per day and it is now May '42. The British have only about 400 convoys left and many of their shipping routes lack transports. I was wondering though how it will affect their supply situation. Will the troops overseas be supplied by Britain's puppets and allies instead and will only their island bases run out of supplies?
Additionally the UK's AI seems to be doing a poor job at sinking my subs. Every now and again a destroyer fleet runs into one of my submarine flottilas, but the battles almost always end inconclusive. Usually their fleets withdraw sustaining a lot of damage while my subs are relatively unharmed. I am using stacks of 10 subs per flottila which seems to be a rather effective number. In two and a half years of nearly non-stop raiding I lost only 12 subs, 7 of which to aircrafts. On the other hand I sank dozens of Allied destroyers. I don't know why the UK starts with such a gigantic fleet, perhaps it is to allow them to absorp the huge losses from relentless submarine warfare or such. But I wonder if they couldn't use more escorts and less transports.
Additionally the Home Islands are poorly defended. Northern Ireland is left completely ungarissoned while I have seen several UK coastal beach provinces left undefended, while neighbouring provinces have multiple divisions guarding them.
