  • Sword of the Stars II
Hello All,

I’m looking to buy a laptop soon and am wanting to play Sword of the Stars II and the End of Flesh expansion on it.
I’m a little strapped for cash, so I wasn’t wanting to spend more than $600 to $700 dollars on it.
I understand I will have to turn the graphics options way down. Can anyone recommend
a laptop in that price range that would run this game?

If anyone is successfully running this on your laptop, could you please tell me what GPU your laptop is using?
Is this GPU list still accurate? http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=1254&canMyGpuRunIt=Sword of the Stars 2
Any one running it with the Intel HD4000 mobile?

Thanks in advance for any info that might be helpful!

This laptop plays games and not in "lowest" settings either.

Acer 5560g RUREK.001

It has a AMD llano CPU and an ATI 7670m GFX. Here is the rub. The CPU is pants in default stock configuration it is a phenom class quad core CPU but at stock 1.6GHz is just too slow. However, read up on K10STAT and LLANO overclocking - I wont bother reposting here; the basics are AMD are way to lenient on the processor in stock form and you are virtually guaranteed a VERY high overclock. At the top end you are looking at close to 100% overclock. I personally run overclocked to 2.73GHz with mild undervolting and can run 3ghz if I shut down 2 cores (i wasnt happy with the temps reaching 80C under load). since the CPU is DESIGNED to overclock itself K10STAT merely locks it in that position.

I have no issues running very intensive CPU games such as NS2.

Anyway, I have this laptop as do 2 of my friends and for the price they are fantastic.
