Sound card critical error

I use HOI2 version 1.3a on Windows XP. Till today morning, the game was working fine (its been ok for 3 months now). Today morning I try to run it and get this error:
"HOI2 has encountered a problem with your sound card. Please obtain and install the latest sound drivers from the sound card manufacturer. If the problem persists contact the technical support".
If I click OK, the game loads after sometime but the graphics are all messed up, with lines all across the screen and what not.
I don't know where this came up from. I haven't modded any files and the game was running perfectly fine on the same config for 3 months.
Please help. I really want to launch my Op SeaLion for the fifth time in a row. :cool:

Have you updated your soundcard?

do I need to? coz it was working just fine a day ago.
 
Obviously something changed on your system. Did you install another program, do you have something running in the background. Perhaps the files have become corrupted, I would suggest a reinstall, you can follow the Manual uninstall instructions in the sticky thread on the subject.

I tried the uninstall method in sticky. The search cannot find any file with the word 'hearts'. What should I do?
 
Try HOI2 as well.

It worked! Thanks a lot. Although now the uninstall isn't working at all. I'll have to use manual uninstall if I ever want to uninstall it. That didn't happen before. But, what the heck, thanks again!
