When you will install it traffic on your map will increase times. It contains .txt file editing which you can influence amount of population and traffic. Try it! Gridlocks and traffic jams all around the map. By default it multiply all figures on 3.5 times. That mod is quite demanding to computer abilities.

This is Walden City with this mod on, which increases the population up to 170,000 people. If you enjoy traffic jams, have fun
The streets doesn't get more clogged than that. Cars start to disappear if they don't move for too long.

I saw this article, the city looks great with all the buzz etc but due to the immense population scale i guess traffic would be a nightmare 5000 station metro perhaps?

São Paulo would indeed be a great city to have in Cities in Motion! It has a rather effective metro system, but the road traffic is still extremely heavy at times.
