Currently playing a game with the sole intention to get the disintegration event to fire, so I've been reloading each time the sacrificed too much event has triggered. Finally after about 50 reloads I've managed to get US war exhaustion up above 60%, but now the problem is that the sacrificed event triggers 1 day into my save every time out of perhaps 20. This thing is getting me really frustrated, and I'm wondering if anyone know exactly when the random numbers are generated, and if a random event can trigger x days after all triggers, including the random number, have been satisfied.

The event you're after has a random chance built into its trigger, based on the Union's war exhaustion: 10% if WE=60%+, and 50% if WE=80%. This is in addition to the 30-day offset.

Yes I know that, I have read the event triggers. I was only wondering about the exact mechanics of the random number generator. But I finally got it to trigger so nvm.

So far as I know, it's...well, random.:)

Again, congrats!

I just wanted to thank the admins, OHGamer, and all the great people who play SR for helping this thread earn a sticky--your support and assistance is greatly appreciated!

Now, back to work on v1.5 for me.

You got a sticky?!?!

Congrats you apple-polishin varmit! ;)

No seriously... kudos to ya.

I curse both of you for making such excellent mods that I can't decide which one to play.

:D

:) Just wait until HMS is done with his Turtledove Ricky mod.

Congrats to the spot in the sun, this mod is worth it.

Edit: Any hints on what 1.5 will bring to the masses? =)

Thanks! Good people like you posting here helped make it possible, and I really appreciate that.

Re: 1.5: I've been thinking of the post-ACW USA of late, and how really passive it is. In my last Ricky game, the Union Party had an uninterrupted rule of the country, save for an 8-year reign by the Socialists in the 1890s. As of 1935, the Union Party was due to lose the next election to the Fascists.

As it is, no matter how passively or aggressively you play the CSA, there's no real threat of war from the Union even when it is ruled for decades by explicitly expansionist parties. That seems wrong.

While obviously I don't want to go back to the "Every Five Years War," I think it should still be possible for an aggressive CSA player to provoke the Union into war. So I'm playing around, trying to add a little danger back to the game for the CSA player.

I'm also trying to adapt some of the Latin American interventions to the CSA, and fix some bugs kindly pointed out here.

At any rate, I'll be tinkering with the game for the next couple of weeks. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for your interest in SR!

Some things for you to consider for 1.5:

1. When CSA releases Phillipines it still has cores there. This led to that the fascists overthrew my lovely socialist paradise. Have not checked what happens if you choose to release Cuba but I can imagine its the same deal there.

2. When the Great War starts the CSA gets invited to the Allies. Since you spoke of making the game more dangerous to the CSA player maybe this could lead to the Union seeing a chance for revenge with Confederate troops heavily engaged elsewhere and starting a war for revenge?

3. If the Union loses the ACW it switches to a more passive AI file, correct? What you could do is making a new event which as triggers has the flag for confederate victory and a random chance, say 1% per month, to swith back to an aggressive AI once more. So if the Union then starts a 2nd war and loses it you could make them switch to a passive AI again.

1) You lost me. What specifically happened? Whose lovely socialist paradise, exactly?

2) Possibly, though the chance would be remote. I'm at the very early stages of this update, so we'll see.

3) More passive vis a vie the CSA, yes. As I said, it's early days yet, but I'm loath to tamper with the AI files, as the regular USA one is quite simply insane. I'm looking at other ways that don't involve a return to the "Every Five Years War" that ruins CSA games everywhere but with this mod.

Thanks for the suggestions--give me a little time to experiment and I should have something to report!

Ok, full story. Playing CSA in 1920's, having kept socialists in power by rigging elections since the 1870's. When I got the treaty of Paris event earlier I took over the whole spanish empire, but chose eventual independence for the Phillipines in the event.

However, when I got the event that turned them into a dominion I still had cores on them. Having other countries owning your cores is a very important factor in the rise of Fascism. So what happened was that the fascists won the following election in a landslide and my socialist democracy turned into a fascist dictatorship.

This is imo a good modelling when it comes to cases like France owning german cores. But would CSA granting limited autonomy to the Phillipnies lead to the same popular outrage and a significantly increasing support for fascists? Most probably not, hence I think that CSA should lose the Phillipine cores when it is turned into a dominion, and likewise with Cuba if CSA choses to release them.

The CSA should probably also lose its cores on the Philippines if it only took Cuba.

Ahhh, OK, I see now. I'll see what I can do.

While looking through some files, I found some key China-related flags missing from the 1861 scenario, which basically sleeps all the events for that country from 1861-1920.

I'm going to rectify PI's mistake for SR 1.5, and we can finally see some action in China, including a chance for the Boxer Rebellion to finally happen. Of course, the CSA may get drug into it, but hey--more fun that way, I say!

Back to work for me now....
