Eureka! I know what you're getting at now. Didn't know you were referring to the culture invention event "Revanchism."

Very strange--the VickyWiki says "At least 25% of national provinces must be owned by foreigners for this invention to fire," but the event itself puts it at 5%. I wonder if the number got changed from Vicky to Ricky.

At any rate, I'll fix it one way or another in V1.6.

Thanks for your patience, and for bringing this to my attention!

You reckon they changed it down to 5% so the fascists have a better chance of being created?

Perhaps--if so, 5% will surely do the trick.

So I just saw Gods and Generals, (Yes I have read the books) and now I'm going to kick some yankee ass, just wanted to let you know!

Edit: WHAT THE HELL is that reimbursed emancipation with that insane monetary loss?

I know, going that way will probably devastate your economy. As far as I see it, the only possibilities are to free the slaves without compensation or simply not free them at all (which will gimp you for the rest of the game).

Edit: Oh btw, did you ever watch Gettysburg? If you did not, then do that!

I selected reimbursement once around the first time it was an option. It does ruin your economy. I maxed out all taxes and still could not keep up with the interest payments.

Well, I guess if you fight a long and bloody war and already have a wrecked economy on the virge of bankruptcy, reimbursement may in fact be the best thing to chose.

Thanks for trying SR!

The cost is high simply because it wouldn't have been cheap to buy 4-5 million slaves, especially at the going antebellum rate. This is one of the reasons it didn't happen historically, and both the SR and VIP mods (I got the figure from the latter) reflect this reality.

Why do almost all of the Confederate battleships seem to be named after Indian tribes? Naming the battleships after states or possibly famous generals would seem to be a better approach.

They are named after states, then tribes.

The list goes:
CSA;4;CSS Confederate States
CSA;4;CSS Virginia
CSA;4;CSS South Carolina
CSA;4;CSS Texas
CSA;4;CSS Louisiana
CSA;4;CSS Tennessee
CSA;4;CSS Georgia
CSA;4;CSS North Carolina
CSA;4;CSS Alabama
CSA;4;CSS Florida
CSA;4;CSS Mississippi
CSA;4;CSS Arkansas
CSA;4;CSS Kentucky
CSA;4;CSS Arizona
CSA;4;CSS Sequoyah
CSA;4;CSS Cherokee
CSA;4;CSS Chickasaw
CSA;4;CSS Choctaw
CSA;4;CSS Creek
CSA;4;CSS Seminole

Aye, I fail to see why that choice is even in there.
Of course I have, beats our civil war movies like "Snapphanar".

Edit: I've been replay this a couple of times now trying to get California to join the confederacy, but it just won't trigger.

1) The choice is there because it could've happened, even if it's difficult to achieve.

2) That event has a random trigger and an offset date. You have to take and hold the state, then just wait for the number to come up.

Thanks for playing SR!

I do not think this is possible if you start at 1861, since

flg_slave_california

must be set to 1 for the event to trigger, but when 1861 scenario starts I think it is set to 0. What you can do is probably to play as the USA from 1836 and selects the right choices in all the events leading up to the ACW, then reload as CSA after cessation.

Ok, I think my problem is that I built so many ironclads that once I got to pre-dreadnoughts, it was already at tribes.

But it was vital for my annexation of Hawaii! Oh crap, I guess I'll have to do that then.

Or you could edit your save game =)

...which would be cheating, but not more cheating than playing the Union then switching to the Confederacy later on.

Then the event will have to be fixed to work with the 1861-scenario.

You can always get at Hawaii through Sonora.
:)

I've thoroughly enjoyed SR, which has made for a more enjoyable game as the CSA. I would like to suggest a potential flavor event that could only fire if Kentucky or Missouri joined the Confederacy and the National League event fires for the USA. The Louisville Grays and St. Louis Brown Stockings were original charter members of the National League, so some sort of flavor event should fire for the CSA the same time it fires for the USA only if the preconditions are met.
