I've thoroughly enjoyed SR, which has made for a more enjoyable game as the CSA. I would like to suggest a potential flavor event that could only fire if Kentucky or Missouri joined the Confederacy and the National League event fires for the USA. The Louisville Grays and St. Louis Brown Stockings were original charter members of the National League, so some sort of flavor event should fire for the CSA the same time it fires for the USA only if the preconditions are met.

Thank you very much!

Just to be sure I know what you're asking for: this would be a First Major Baseball League for the CSA, right?

If so, I've thought about it from time to time, but never found enough real history to base an event on. Even today, there are only 5 clubs playing in the old Confederacy. Would big-time sports have ever become viable in the rural Southlands?

Still, it's something I'd like to add, if I ever get enough inspiration.

Thanks for the post!

<_<...dude, this is the same area of the country that has turned NASCAR into nothing short of a religion.

Not to mention, most of the country's most devout Football fans are in the South(Yeah, you've got places like the Wisconsin Cheese-heads, and alot in the North, but given the South's general 'lack' of states, we've got more devout fans of the game). I personally hate NASCAR and Football, but that's beside the point.

I actually think that, given that South and North still occupy the same continent, a good 30-40, maybe 50 years after the Civil War, they'd do the same thing Canada does now with their Hockey: Play against each other. It'd be something of a "Sign of good will". So, this would be a way to keep the South and North on reasonably good terms(maybe a +5/+10 relations boost?).

That's worth considering. Thanks for the suggestion!

You can always get at Hawaii through Sonora.

Yeah, if I took it from Mexico, which I did not because I was hoping for California. ;D Well I changed it so Californa would join, now I'm taking Hawaii while fending of yankees.

Ugh.

I am sure this mod would be awesome if I managed to survive the Civil War. However, I've fought it a good ten times, and each time has ended in defeat. There have been a couple of close calls, including the capture of Lincoln and the occupation of not only DC, but Philadelphia and New York (which surely would have resulted in the collapse of the Union in real life, or at least their acceptance of some form of peace) but no matter what I am overwhelmed in 1863 and the entire front, From Texas to New York, collapses. Great Britain only declares war when I have five provinces left, which isn't much help. Even my attempts on easy, following all the guides I could find on this forum, have resulted in abysmal failure.

If I had burned DC and executed Lincoln instead of being the benevolent southern gentleman I am, would that have forced peace?

I really want to play as the CSA following the Civil War, but it looks like that is an impossibility.

1) I take it you found the links to Hannibal Barca's strategy guides, as well as my own. If not, links are on page one of this thread.

2) Did you install Vanilla Vicky Patch 1.4 before installing Revolutions? If not, you're facing Yankee armies about 2-3 times as large as you should be.

3) Did you save and reload once you had DC and Philly? If you've lost less than 5-6 provinces (depending on what territorial events have fired), the Union surrender event should fire on reload.

4) If you'd like, please feel free to post a request for someone else's saved "CSA wins" game. I'm sure somebody 'round these parts could hook you up.

Even with SR, it's not easy to beat the North. I only manage about one try in three myself. That's how it's got to be if the mod resembles history in any way, but it does make the victories that much sweeter. Hopefully one of the above suggestions will help.

Thanks for trying SR!

Well wow. After having typed that out and almost giving up on the Confederacy, I decided to give it another shot. This time, things worked perfectly, I managed to hold the line in Tennessee and Kentucky long enough for me to march on DC and New York and win the war, in early December 1861. I managed to make off with Kentucky and Arizona. :D

Thanks for your help and this mod. As a Texan I was determined to play as either Texas or the South, and your mod has certainly made at least the South available. :)

Congratulations, and thanks again for playing SR!

You can release Texas as a puppet.

Hey CSABadass. I hope all is still well with you. I have an idea for an event for Texas. I know, I know, this is Southern Revolutions, not Texan Revolutions. I hope it serves as a credit to your modding ability that I would mention it. There is also a thin tie to the CSA for later in a Grand Campaign.

I have always found it impossible to gain Texan Independence with all my territory intack or an economy in good enough shape to make the game worth playing. Not to mention the Mexicans do it all over again several years later. As an aside I do have to say I haven't tried with the most recent patches of vannilla or Revolutions. This could have major unintended consequences for the future CSA. I say unintended because there is no way that I know of to really win a victory such as that won by the Texans.

Here it is, if at all possible. Can an event be written that if land battle is won by the Texans, then the event triggers, ending the war in a Texan Victory? This is to simulate the Capture of Santa Anna.

I'll keep the idea in mind if I ever do any modding for Texas or the GC scenario. Thanks for the suggestion!

Just a heads-up to everyone that I'm going in for some minor surgery Monday morning, followed by a week flat on my back stuffed full of painkillers. I don't know if I'll be online a lot, a little, or if I'll be too high to make any sense then, but if I do vanish for a bit or get all weird, that's why.

All should be back to normal by Halloween, so please, no declaring me or the mod dead in the meantime.

Thanks everyone for your continued support of SR!

Hope your surgery goes well!

Jest remember to duck when y'all get back to the home pickets, what with your new avatar and such. :D

Just a little stuff for when you get back.

1) Something like that. The event should only trigger if Kentucky (Louisville), Missouri (St. Louis) or both are in the CSA. It would mention the Louisville Grays and St. Louis Brown Stockings as charter members of the National League and have some modifier for improving relations with the USA.

2) How about some modification of POPs for a little more historical accuracy such as a Creole minority in New Orleans and French-Canadian (for lack of Cajun as a separate culture) as a sizable minority in Alexandria?

Hope the surgery went well.
