Howdy. This is my first AAR, so go easy.
I will be playing with a bunch of mods. Mainly trait mods (because I -LOVE- variety in my traits) but also the Government and Ethics Rebuild, 'Prepare for Ground Assault!', 'Compelling Xenophobia', 'Homeworld Ethics' and 'More Leader Traits' mods, among other minor ones that I'll go into if asked. This AAR will run after the DLC drops. Also, I'm not going to be fussing over how many words are in it. That doesn't decide quality. Besides, the dang thing hasn't even started. Well, with all that said, let's begin this introduction:
_____________
The Othari are a strange species. The journey into space involves a lot of hardships and discovery. After all, every species should, theoretically, go through an industrial age where pollution spews out into the air and, roughly one-hundred to two-hundred years later, realise their folly in doing this and attempt to clean the environment without setting nation-states against one another. Either their entire world blows up in nuclear war or they progress to a minor Space Age, developing theories of warp travel, weaponry, and ship designs.
These are completely different. The Othari understand the natural state, mainly due to their strictly carnivorous diet. They understand that nature isn't to be trifled with- were they to spew pollution and smog out into the air, why, they would all soon be killed by starvation. The life on Ruphaa, their icy planet, was and still is reasonably scarce. Thus, from around the time period of the 1950s, after a series of diplomatic meetings, the Othari Wardens emerged from most of the countries on Ruphaa. These combined nations with their combined (but reasonably similar) cultures and their combined might advanced in technology fairly quickly. Architects and engineers built homes with electricity that didn't require spewing pollution or smog into the air. Scientists devised new ways of settling previously uninhabitable areas on Ruphaa. The world was pure.
Two and a half centuries later, the Othari Wardens are still kicking, as are the nation-states that formed it. Soon, they plan to unify and make for the stars. FTL travel had already been created and devised in 2190, and hyperlane networks had been planned out, but it takes time to build ships from scratch, it takes time to build hyperdrives and test them out in a tiny scale and it takes time to find those brave or foolish enough to man untested spaceships, spaceships that had to be big enough to have entire sections dedicated to meat storage so the crew can be fed. The newly elected, rather carefree leader Ying Flores plans to do all of this anyway, carrying on from her predecessor's orders and work.
After all, they'd gotten this far, why stop now? It is the year 2200, and five ships have been built- three 'Keeper-Class Corvettes', a type of fighter ship, one Construction Ship, class 'Dawn' and a single Science Ship, class 'Explorer', whose Lead Scientist is yet to be decided.
_____________
Space hippies that can only eat meat. There's a fallacy for you. Any interest in this?
Also, this'll be mildly interactive, NOW WITH PERMISSION FROM THE MODS! Pick a human-ish name for the Science Vessel's one and only Lead Scientist! Come up with a story for them if you want. Either way, this will start on the 20th/whenever the damn expansion launches, so be prepared!
