Okay I will leave this here as an object lesson.

Forum staff will find these, please leave them to us.
I issue warnings for spam to people that post replies to Ad bot posts.

I often am told that "Hey I was just trying to help out by drawing attention to it."

Guess what, that is exactly what the spammers want. and it does not help us in anyway, not at all not even a little bit.
What it does is cause MORE work for the already over worked forum staff, because now we not only have to get rid of the ad bot but now we need to deleted your off topic post as well.

Q: "So What do I do when I see this stuff" ?

A: The best thing is probably to do nothing, ignore it and move on. We do our best to get rid of it and for such a large forum I think we do a pretty good job. Spam will mostly appear in new forums that you cannot register in yet. that is because we need to be more open in our permissions so that we do not inconvenience legit members.
If you want to help, you can look at the forum and see who the Moderator of that forum is, and then PM them. We are also taking a look at getting a reporting function back so that bad posts can be reported. Stay tuned for more updates about this.

Ah, just like the old days on Tilted Mill's Forums, except there they had porn occasionally as well as phone spam, but yeah, we just PM'd an admin or mod and then they got rid of them. Got it about not posting in the offending thread as well though (that bit I didn't think about). So, will do (the pming of relevant admin and such). :)
