Hi everyone, I have been coming and reading the forums for a bit now since I heard about this game and I can't wait to play.

I just wanted to share some ideas I had, or maybe others could share any info with me about the possibility of events that might happen in the city?

I was thinking of a sort of mini-game type challenge which might add to the gameplay a bit would be special events. They would be challenges that would appear randomly and you could accept or decline them. Things like hosting tournaments, music festivals, olympic games, political summits, etc... The challenge would be to develop the infrastructure necessary, host the event successfully (perhaps by ensuring safe or efficient transportation to VIPS, meeting objectives) build the appropriate buildings on time, etc... Tourism could get a boost, increase in tax dollars, perhaps special reward buildings, and also improve the status of your city. Of course, things could go wrong... it could be too costly, goals might not be met, it could lower your status or tourism... there could be an increase in crime or traffic that would have to be dealt with successfully.

For example, you could bid on an olympic games and have a time frame in which you get to build unique buildings. Such as the stadiums and the village. But this process could be expensive, and your citizens may not be happy with how tax dollars are being spent... Once the games arrive, the city could become very very busy, and influx of tourism brings money but also problems and effectively dealing with an increase in crime. Traffic could get heavier and you have to provide efficient routes for athletes and officials etc...

Rewards could be cash, tourism increase, status increase, unlocking buildings, etc..

Just an idea. What do you guys think?

Great ideas that's what Ive been thinking

Very cool. It does sound tailor-made for DLC doesn't it? Just to brainstorm with you though, small towns could host/create their own tiny festivals whereas larger cities could have bigger draws like conventions, car races, marathons, triathlons, regional games and so on. Olympics should obviously be reserved for the largest city sizes. I think the reward should be keeping the infrastructure you get to build and making the event an annual thing (except for the big ones of course). It doesn't have to be much; I always found it a nice touch in SC4 when the fireworks went off over the mayor's house each new year.

Also, as opposed to a challenge, I'd like it if you are approached by your citizens to do it - call it an investment opportunity. I'd rather it feel like an organic part of running a city as opposed to some quest concept where I get a steam achievement at the end.

Another good one would be Christmas with parades snow, Trees, Christmas lights, banners and even Santa and his reindeers streaking across your city skyline and new years eve with a count down and fireworks would be awesome

Or

There is a thread about this, seasons and events (I made it haha), anyway this is one of the best ideas I've heard here ^^ I hope see it in the game.
It will be very, very interesting and funny.
