I'm playing version 5.02 on PS4 with all DLC up to Nemesis (everything currently available). I stopped the Orbital Speed Demon and took the Research the Box option. When I completed the Special Project I heard the "Special Project Completed" notification, and then nothing happened. No pop up with the options to sell it or open it. I let it run, figuring there was a slight delay from completion of the study, but at this point a year has passed in game, and there's been nothing. The box has apparently vanished without a trace. Too much time has passed to reload (I'm playing Ironman), so I"m afraid I've got no way to reliably replicate the glitch, and there's no way to send a screenshot of nothing happening. I'll update if anything changes.
UPDATE: This has also happened with Translating Explorer's Texts and Translating Warrior's Texts on the same save. When I was researching Translating Warrior's Texts, I notice that on the Current Research screen, Society research didn't have a researching special project note, but research on the current project on that screen (Food Processing) also wasn't advancing. I just realized that Warrior's Texts listed the location as my home planet that had been destroyed (I'm playing a Doomsday origin). Could it be vanishing the results because the world it lists as location no longer exists? Special Projects research on Crystalline Study, Mining Drone Study, and Delve Into the Secrets of the Baol all worked fine, but I don't think any of those listed a location.
