Does anyone know what program is used to open and edit AoD's sprite files? This is the first time I've seen this format, but I can't find any information or tools to view/create/edit them.

The sprite files in folder db\units are normal text files. You can use any text editor. I use Notepad++.

There can only their technical stats be found. I wouldn't bet that he wants to change these. ;)

The .spr files can be edited with any editor, e.g. notepad+. The sprites are all .bmp files which can - theoretically - be edited by using paint but that would be a waste of time. There are some special programs available on the net, but you have to check the wikis and the HOI2 forum to get their names and a guide how to use them. The first step would be to check the aodwiki, but it's under construction so you might also check the hoi2wiki. It's modding section should have some helpful links. And don't forget to visit the HOI2 - User modifications.

Couldn't find anything on the HoI2wiki that pertained to sprite editing. There was a section on palette editing but it was unhelpful. I've gotten the sprite to work now, but when it appears in-game it has a large pink box around it. At first I thought it might have something to do with the palette file but that doesn't seem to be the case. So how do I get rid of this?
