Hi,

I think you've got some odd timing going, as VT/Das Reich/2.SS and Totenkopf/3.SS (these are essentially the same formations) do not require any Armor techs for the MOT versions. they do have upgades available which do require Armor research. But those aren't till 1943. IIRC the thing to type to fire events is just: event xxxxxx. You might still need to do this as you should get the foreigh recruitment events. All of the event IDs are located at the top of the SS Event file.

I think everything is fine. I got the event to upgrade Vt to Das Reich, its still MOT though and as you said they dont get changed to ARM untill 43. Same for Totenkopf.

Ive now started to get the foriegn events, first one to actually deploy was the SS Nord (MTN division).

Im at Dec of 41, just took Moscow (quite a battle with frozen ground). I was kinda hoping I wouldnt take it to make things more challenging, but I did with some pretty heavy casulties. I think the SOV needs work, so far they've been a cakewalk and I hardly even encircled any units. I was just pushing them back. The only encirclement I did was in the baltic states.

So now they only have 92 INF divisions, the majority being RES units, they have 9 ARM but all are years behind me. No T-34's yet. Not one plane in their airforce? Alot of their divisions are on Japans border, there are many provinces in front of me with no defence at all.

Edit: Im confused, is Totenkopf the 3rd SS and is Das Reich the 2nd SS? or are they different units?

The SU is way too weak. It's basically a cake walk. I'm sure they're working on beefing them up. I've been looking into doing some "amateur" tweaks for them but nothing so far. I was thinking that some reinforcement events would help.

Yeah they really need some help. I rarely play any other country then germany and barbarossa is the best part.

The SOV only had slightly over 100 divisions at the start, most are reserves? I know the CORE team doesnt want to start putting in events that give countries free units like other mods do but in the case of "approaching moscow" maybe this could be an exception?

The Soviet Union did build several divisions of volunteers from Moscow in the fall of 41. These could be an event, making them reserve perhaps and making them stay put in the city?

The other problem is they dont seem to defend moscow with enough priority. As Im approaching it they are sending units south, north and even east out of Moscow. This isnt really CORE's issue though, its the basic AI of HOI2.

I might dig into the save file for SOV and reduce the build time for everything thats being produced at the moment to 1 day, and repeat a few times. I was hoping for a challenge. As it is my manpower is going up, my units are rarely below 100% strength.

Anyway Im dragging this OT, sorry.

Hi,

For version 0.32 the SOV will get a big boost to INF/RES production times as we are switching Stalin in as HoS with the Purge events. Still not sure how much this will really help, but the SOV should be able to build a good bit more once this is in.

VT/Das Reich/2.SS: These are all basically the same division with different names. VT was the original unit name, but this didn't last very long before the division was renamed Das Reich. Then it was later renamed 2.SS Division 'Das Reich' and finally 2.SS Panzer division 'Das Reich' yet later. Very similiar naming for Totenkopf and many of the other SS units as well.
