Can someone give me info about this events? When I triggers or what pre-requisites i need for it fire? I have Himmler as Min. of Security and in 1937 i received SS-Leibstandarte as GAR in Berlin and SS-Polizei as Inf-Pol. So, i need to know if this divisions will auto upgrade via an event or something, as some of you know, Leibstandarte was a great Panzer Division, so I want to know if it will upgrade to Inf, Mec, or directly to an Arm.

Another question: I need conquest other countries to create other SS Divs? Such SS-Wiking? These units have special stats?

Dec can give a more detailed answer than me, but yes, the units will upgrade via event. For the later divisions there are additional prerequisites, like advanced AT guns and such.

Yes, you will have to conquer the corresponding country, plus opt for recruitment abroad. The corresponding units have different stats based on the unit involved - not every SS division were crack divisions. So Wiking will give you a better than normal division, but those like Skanderbeg or Russische #1 will be 2nd rate.

We are tweaking the SS chain for the 0.4.1 release, by the way.

Now, that's nice to hear :)
A maintenance release first and foremost. But we are looking into adding some issues that might move CORE 0.4 towards a more finished product. The more so as we're still looking as how to migrate to HoI3 in the future.

the ss divisions weren't as good as most people think. the mentioned Leibstandarte suffered very high losses during the early stages of barbarossa...
their equipment was the best but there were a lot of problems because the OKH didn't have the command over them but himmler himself... :D
von manstein thought that the ss-divsions were a waste of potentially good officers for the wehrmacht.

agreed, 150% agreed. waffen ss is no 1 over rated military formation in history, IMO

Hi,

Actually the early war SS tended to have rather average equipment. They did have a lot of mororized transport, bit for the most part they were pretty normal motorized units with respect to the TO&E. CORE generally models the better SS units as being similiar in quality to standard Heer formations. New SS units start the game at partial strength and reinforcement brings their final experience levels down to about what a newly built unit would get. Conversions get some credit for expected Experience gains form combat. but they are not getting alot for this. In my testing all of the most experienced GER units are normal units rather than the event driven SS ones.

yes i liked those events!

dont have the impression that those units are overrated in core 0.40

Well they sure aren't the 'suprer elite units' other mods tend to introduce. By and large the SS units varied widely in quality and effectiveness. Undisputably some of them were crack divisions, but certainly not all of them.

Skanderbeg?

well as i said i like how this is handled in CORE 0.40 (hope there will be a core 0.41, if not 0.50, come on guys!;) )

@Hagar: you have probably (and hopefully) mail. i hope everything arrived savely
(post here in case your pm box is full)

Skanderbeg is a pretty good example of those that certainly were anything but. The Handschar, Kama, Russische Nr 1 (RONA) division, The Russische #2 and Weißruthenische Nr 1 are in that league as well.

And there WILL be a CORE2 0.4.1, and thanks for your mail - received all of them in good order. ;)

I wonder... will Panzer-Division Kempf ( Panzerverband Ostpreußen) be included ?
The same goes with SS-Standarte Germania.

Or perhaps SS-Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler (mot) actually represents those units in some way ?
Seems too small for this purpose.

Pz Div Kempf was formed out of a makeshift collection of available sub-divisional units, and did not exist past the Polish campaign. It is a mix of Wehrmacht & SS troops, and they all later became part of other units, so I don't think it is something we would add in game.

That is tru, but it also makes the second question more important. If SS LAH is here it wouldn't hurt to add the remaining SS units - those which were a part of the 'division' and those which were not - like SS Germania.

I doubt that adding one-two motorized units will hurt. :)
