I saw a post on this issue earlier but there was no real answer.

I'm having problems with the amount of stability investments. Sometimes it is impossible to get more than a specific amount per month. Even if the monarch effect is +16, I have +5 from fine arts, and invest some extra, all I get is say 8 per month. Actually it doesn't matter if I try to invest more or less, I still get only 8. This effect shows up now and then. The expected date of stability increase slides further into the future each month.

This has to be a bug.

Right now I'm playing Sweden in the Scandinavian version of the grand campaign, v.1.10. If that has anything to do with it.

If you move your mouse over the number (in this case 8), you see how it is build up. I thought that protestants get -5 for stability buildup.

-3, I believe.............

Saeter, I've never seen the bug you describe, only natural fluctuations caused by income variations from month to month. Sorry...............

The reason that you are not seeing your changes take effect is because you are not closing your slider display window. For whatever reason, changes to any of the sliders (not just stability) don't take effect until after you close the window.

So when I want to micromanage tech or stability, I make a change, then quickly close and reopen the slider window.

The monarch additions, I think, are messed up due to IGC. The actual effects of monarchs, and the popup text are contained in different files. Maybe the IGC only tweeked the main 'effect' file, or maybe I messed things up by installing a paradox patch (EU-English.exe) AFTER installing the IGC. In any case, my monarch additions don't match the pop-up text either.

Hope this helps!

That could explain it. I'll examine the calculations once again with your comments in mind. Thanks, Skyjack.

Still, I consider it poor programming not to take the popup information from the same variable used by the game engine. Also, moving the sliders should produce an immediate effect, in my opinion. The combination of these two defects produces a very confusing situation.

Otherwise I love the game, I just hope that EU2 will have less of these "poor programming" effects.
