My younger brother and I started using family sharing a couple weeks ago when he asked about HOI4. I figured paradox games wasn't his taste in games, so I told him to try it through family sharing before buying the game. Surprisingly he did find it fun. Before he goes and buys the game, he is waiting for it to go on sale, he has been using the family share version. Now whenever I try to play EUIV or CKIII it kicks him out of HOI4. My question is, is this working intentionally? or is it an error with maybe the launcher? being the cause of him receiving the message that I need the game back. Again which is, he is playing HOI4 and I'm trying to play any other paradox title.

My work around has been to play offline as it doesn't kick him out.

That does not sound right, no. I have never seen another such report.

But Steam Family Sharing is entirely a Steam function, it is nothing to do with us or our launcher. Please contact their support on this problem.

Good luck!

As far as I know this is normal and intended:

Can two users share a library and both play at the same time?

No, a shared library may only be accessed by one user at a time.

I thought it was per-game, not the whole account. That seems unnecessarily restrictive!

Family sharing works per account and not per game.

There is a way for both of you to use the account at the same time, but it means you need to access your account on his PC and then go offline. It should be usable for a ~month (without logging out) before needing a connection with Steam servers.
