Steam Version Crashing During Launch

The loading art will start to display as well as the soundtrack then after a random period of time it will crash. Reminds me of old crashes in EU and vicky from the map cache not being deleted lol

Running Windows 10 version 2004, bought on steam, running no mods, launcher version 2020.11, and running version 1.0.3 of the game.

I've tried all the remediation's that I've heard of so far: disabling anti virus, adding as a ransomware exception, removing every peripheral except my mouse, keyboard, and monitor,, running as an admin, reinstalling the game, updating my drivers/windows, moving the install from my D drive to my C drive where my windows install is, launching directly from application instead of through steam and the PDX launcher, lowering the resolution, and disabling full-screen.

I have my DxDiag, pdx-settings, and system.log attached.

The only other thing I can think to mention is that whenever any PDX game crashes on my PC the PDX crash log app fails to send its report lol, don't know if that's relevant.

This is my first post in like half a decade, man the forums look different I wonder if OT is still wild as hell lmao. Anyway, thanks for the awesome game guys and all the hard work! just looking forward to playing more CK

I have the exact same issue and haven't been told a fix as of yet. I raised this in the bug report section 4 days ago now and still no contact back from Paradox on how to fix this. Very disappointing! Good luck to you friend!

I also forgot to mention that this issue just started happening yesterday for me. Before that I was playing the game just fine from the release on the first until the fourth of September. I think it might have been some update to CK3 between then and now but I don't know

Does it happen if you start a new game vs trying to continue an old one

Don't know whether this question is for me or Aine. For me it's when I open the game and it starts initialising but doesn't go further and crashes out

You might try disabling Cloud Saves? I had the same issue today and doing that fixed it.

Right click the games name in Steam then click on Properties -> Updates tab -> uncheck Cloud box at bottom.

I play with the Xbox game pass version and i have the same issue. I launch the game, and for some unknown reason after half a minute loading during the loading screen, the game crashes, and a crash report window pops up. I sent it multiple times already.
All drivers and win10 up to date, antivirus on or off, it doesnt matter. I also reinstalled the game 4 times alreadyIt still crashes. Sometimes it works, but from 10 launches 9 crash and it really frustrating

Although I'm on steam, I only got the idea about cloud sync because turning off Xbox live-sync fixed the same issue for other game pass players. Might be worth looking into that too - I read it in this thread : "Unable to launch the game on xbox game pass"

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

Please update that AMD driver, it's 5 years old. The May 2020 one from here is good:

The logs still seem to indicate your video drivers are not working. Also you have an EU4 crash too seemingly indicating you have a more systemic issue with your computer

1) run a manual full windows update on your system
2) I'd then recommend doing a clean uninstall of your AMD drivers

I've been getting random freezing on the loading screens too (win10, steam). I've found a workaround for me is to unplug and reconnect my keyboard when it stops responding.

Seen other USB devices resetting while loading so it might be a more broad USB issue.
