What this game really needs is new game modes. Conquest is a great base mode. It's stale after a few hundred hours.

We need 2 other modes: 1. An objective mode, something like the zones of Wargame. 2. An asymmetric mode (attack/defend), something like frontline mode from Men of War

But too many modes would be confusing, and current userbase is not enough to support them.
I just want to see one mixed mode - based on conquest, weighted destruction(+objective) points and with asymmetric situation.

all units destroyed refund 100% of their price (making points a population limit effectively)
both sides start with 1000 points
total points for each player (points of units on the field + reseve) are modified like this:
(+3 base growth + (number of friendly held sectors - number of enemy held sectors) )/s
every 10 min base income is reduced by 1
total points per player cannot exceed 3000

victory conditions:
all enemy cvs destroyed
enemies total points per player dropp to 900
own all sectors
ive suggested this about a year ago for wargame to slove that issue.
point being that if your unit pool is determined by the division and the popcap determines how much can be on the field at any given point the game flow changes drastically.
instead of a buildup/skirmish -> battle -> mopup like in classic rts where most time is spend in the buildup phase and good players quit after the battle phase it drastically changes sthings.

there isnt a classic buildup phase but rather a short scouting phase to se where the enemy is followed by a prolonged battle phase where both sides fight for a prolonged period of time with roughly equal active forces but overall dwindling reserves followed by a short mopup where one side has too low popcap or unit reserves to continue.

overall this accentuates the fun part of the game being the fighting a combined arms battle against an enemy.
with just changing held sectors to map controll percentages, instead of a timer to determine popcap gain using the phases and adjusting the victory conditions accordingly this is still workable
