Game crashes during loading menu

Game Version
3.3 Libra

What version do you use?
GoG

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I open the Paradox Launcher through GOG. I click on Play and the loading menu screen appears. Less than a second in, Windows informs me that the game has crashed at 0%. I have not had issues until after the update.

Open GOG. Click Play on Stellaris menu. Click Play on Stellaris Launcher. Watch it crash.

Pretty bad crash against the gam ein that dxdiag, but why that's happening on this machine or this edition of the game I cannot see.

If you run stellaris.exe directly, what happens exactly? Any Windows error show?

Do you have access to any other machine to do a test install on?

I don't currently have a machine running that I can test it on but I will try to set one up. If I run it directly from the .exe or make any changes to the settings, I get the same response.

I uninstalled GOG Galaxy and all of its components, including associated games. Reinstalled Galaxy and Stellaris. It continues to fail. This time the launchers simply says it failed to launch while the .exe crashes as previously described. It says, "Stellaris has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

In the game launcher please set Display mode to Borderless. Does that make any difference?

If not I'm really not sure what could be causing this to you, we have no clues pointing to even the general area of the problem. Were you able to access another machine to try this? The purpose is to determine if perhaps the GoG edition of the game is bugged (although you'd think we'd have other such reports if so), it this is caused by something peculiar on this machine.

I've tried the tricks described in other threads, including the borderless and windowed modes to no avail. I'll either keep investigating or do a heavier tear down of my system.

I am having the same problem. Also the GoG version. I have a few more lines in the error.log though. It still happens with all the DLC turned off as well.

You can see all the things I suggested above, and all the files I asked for there. Are you having troubling getting them or something?

I tried full uninstalling and reinstalling after deleting everything. Same problem from just the exe. Same problem is full and windowed. Attached are all the non-blank files from the log dir and what is hopefully the dxdiag thingy. I'm not getting any windows errors, it just crashes and the launcher says the it failed. (before the reinstall I wasn't even getting that, the laucher would close). I don't have another machine to try it on, I may try installing through the offline installer from gog, in case galaxy is messing it up somehow.

Do either of you get an exceptions log? And better still, any crash dumps?

Exact same scenario is happening to me - was working fine until the last few days, all the sudden crashes to desktop - even reinstalled fresh with the same result. time to request a refund from MS store

Was there ever any solution to this? I just purchased the game and can't get this past 0% without any information other than the application closing out while trying to run directly from the .exe. Verifying the files through gog just has issues on the Paradox launcher requiring elevation (other rabbit hole) so I'd rather just avoid the launcher entirely but have been getting stonewalled on the .exe not even getting past 0%.

You may or may not have the same problem cause, as we are months and patches later now.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log
