Executing console commands is not required for normal play and is generally done on the user's own risk.
It shouldn't crash of course, but it's not a requirement for the game to function so I wouldn't say it's a game breaking issue.

As someone who is not a fan of migraines, it's definitely game-breaking for me and totally prevents me from even trying to play 3.1 to see if I can mod out the intelligence system failures. The spotlight in the center of the galaxy is a 100% deal-killer for playing.

Believe me I want them to fix this ASAP, but as a workaround, you can still use the tweakergui dialogs. Check the boxes but don't hit the X in the corner to close them. I just drag them to the bottom of the screen on the left of the Close Galaxy Map button. IT SUCKS but at least it works.

I strongly disagree with this. Console commands provide an enhancing experience and allow users to better tailor games or even to fix poorly design normal gameplay features. They shouldn't be neglected. Over the years more and more commands have stop working and now we have an entire section of commands that is crashing the game. I can't imagine why this would be acceptable to keep as is.

The commands should be labelled as bugged and corrected, not ignored because they are seen as "not required".

The commands are created for testing purposes. If they aren't needed for that and they aren't functional, they should be removed IMO.

Any functionality that's meant for gameplay purposes should not be behind commands.

I have fixed the original issue brought up in this thread however as it is a useful tool for mod development.

Will the fix be in the next update? I am still experiencing the crashing when using tweakergui commands.

If everything proceeds as expected, it will be included in a future update.

There is a work around. I haven't tested it with every tweakergui command yet, but it has worked for the 4 or 5 I've tried so far.
  1. Use the command you need (ex. tweakergui ignore_truce)
  2. Make the change you need (ex. close borders where needed)
  3. Save the game
  4. Close the application. Don't just exit to the main menu. Need to close the entire application.
  5. Restart the application and load your game. The tweakergui will be gone, but the change you saved will still be in effect.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, but that isn't really a work around as you still have to close the game.

Can confirm that this is still happening (coming back after a long hiatus). I generally have to use tweakergui draw.stars, asteroid, center and at least one other command to ensure my game does not slow to a halt due to the unresolved performance issues-which get ignored on every update despite new items coming up for sale...and a lot of those items coming up for sale look to be copies of modders' ideas, concepts, or work...

Thank you for the users in this forum who have provided solutions. I will try them in the future.

I'm not purchasing the Aquatics Species pack or any further updates until this is resolved. Id say before the performance issues are resolved but I enjoy the game (thanks to modders, base game is only so-so and has a lot of issues) and dont intend to quit just yet.

Update-attempted the save idea and reload. Didnt work-though I appreciate that input.
When is this fix coming? I dont want to create a new playthrough, and, considering the performance issues have yet to be fixed (despite new packages being added), this is game breaking.

Still appears to be an issue as of today.

Had colonies get stuck not progressing for 50 years of gametime and ended up having to use the tweakergui function to fix the bug. Closing out of the tweakergui crashes the game, repeatable every time.

Also having the same issue as wahrheitssucher. Moving more than 7-10 populations without pausing to save will crash my game; repeatable every time.

Are you on beta? It's in the patchnotes
