Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
The researches that increase the output of jobs while increasing their upkeep also increase the upkeep for jobs that do not scale with increase output of jobs. It feels these researches are a trap that mostly hurt yourself with certain strategies (or maybe with all of them).

The research itself even if it worked correctly feels a bit like a trap. It is an additive increase with many other bonuses diluting it with a fairly unique downside (which effectively makes it multiplicative) makes it ~25-50% as effective as it advertises. A 2.5% output for 10% upkeep does not sound appealing. And worse when part of the income for the upkeep comes from sources that don't scale with the research like orbital mining stations.

Play machine empire, research improved production.
