Stellaris: Hot keys not working

Has this game always been like this for you? Or it was okay up to some point?

You say only in Stellaris, so you've tested in our similar game HOI4 too?

Those keys all read like OS shortcuts. What OS and version are you on?

I am on Win 10 pro, Herbert 3.2.2 (abbc). it has not always been like this. I haven't played for a while, but i think that the game worked fine before I tried the stellaris_test_patch.

I just logged in and tested HoI4, it has the same issue.

In HoI4 Barbarossa v1.11.5.5b4f (7e1e):
I unsubscribed all mods.
exited from the Steam app
deleted the HoI4 mods folder
NO mods_registry.json to delete.
ran HoI4.exe as admin.
f# hot keys still had the issue.
keyboard hot keys work.

Of course opting into the Stellaris test patch cannot have caused this problem to HOI4. I'm pretty confident this is a Windows or hardware (keyboard) problem, but what to do about it I frankly have no idea!

Make a new Windows user on this machine and log into Windows as that. Do you still get the problem then?

Fixed the issue.
I had to use the fn+esc key combo to lock the function keys instead of using their optional usage.
