A great thing about all new Paradox games is that they run on Linux natively and the same is going to be true about Stellaris apparently.
That said, both CK2 and EU4 have huge issues regarding multiplayer support between Linux and Windows: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/linux-host-windows-client-desync.865292/ (it doesn't work - never has), and seeing as Stellaris will use the Clausewitz engine (https://www.reddit.com/r/Stellaris/comments/3g5ajs/will_this_game_use_the_same_engine_as_eu_4/) I assume the desync issues to be persistent.

Is there any guarantee/statement that Stellaris (or HOI4/any other future game for that matter) will actually work in Linux2Windows multiplayer? This will impact my future game/DLC purchases as I want to play these games with friends.

The intention is that we should always support cross-platform multiplayer, if we have failed that in previous games it is not on purpose.

We play Stellaris multiplayer every week, during those sessions we have people on Windows, OSX and Linux. Currently we have no problems in multiplayer related to what platform you are on and we want to keep it like that when the game is released.

I think a "no" slipped away from that sentence when you weren't looking. Er, I mean, I KNEW IT PARADOX CONSPIRACY CONFIRMED etc etc.

Haha yeah, reading it without the "no" makes it a mocking statement, "Well make sure it doesn't work. Dumbass."

Anyway, good to hear that they're actively testing Linux in multiplayer with other platforms!

I'm looking forward to the forum reports on the multiplayer sessions like we get for EU4. :)
