Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
completed the situation, got the beta planet, situation is stuck, wont go away.

i found a solution on reddit, was used for a dfifferent problem but works for this. console command is:
effect destroy_situation = this

Im not sure what happens if you have multiple situations going, i think you have to open the right one before using the command. i only had the 1 going.

Thanks! Unfortunately, it's an Ironman save so I don't know if that would work without scratching the Ironman mode itself.

Same here. The event never ends end i get -45 credits permanent
