Description
Ring Worlds - Machine Intelligence, Game Deletes all buildings at start of new month on ring world

Game Version
Phoenix 4.0.4

What version do you use?
Steam

What expansions do you have installed?
Plantoids, Humanoids, Synthetic Dawn, Utopia, Leviathans Story Pack, Apocalypse, Megacorp, Distant Stars, Ancient Relics, Lithoids, Federations, Necroids, Nemesis, Aquatics, Overlord, Toxoids, First Contact, Galactic Paragons, Astral Planes, The Machine Age, Cosmic Storms, Grand Archive

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.

Using the Cybrex Alpha homeworld, I restored the ringworld.
When creating new buildings/districts as a machine intelligence get deleted entirely after the end of the month. This effectively breaks ring worlds, though I have not tested outside of the Cybrex Alpha ringworld.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
1. Go to Cybrex Alpha
2. Restore Ring World
3. Build Machine Assembly Plants
4. Wait for it to complete
5. Watch it be deleted at the end of the month

I am also seeing this issue as a machine empire with a shattered ring start + cybrex alpha on 4.06 and beta 4.07. The first three districts in the shattered ring and the first district in cybrex alpha are working as expected, but the fourth district in the shattered ring and other cybrex alpha districts are exhibiting this behavior. Abandoning and recolonizing the problematic sections does not fix this.

Okay, I may have found a "workaround" -- experimented with a couple things and after doing these steps the new sections seem to be keeping their buildings:

1) colonize ring world section
2) (optional to confirm that you are experiencing this) try to build a building and watch it disappear
3) build 1 (and exactly one) urban segment and wait for it to complete
4) observe that the Districts and Buildings panel in the colony view is now bugged -- the top part which should say Nexus District now shows Urban Segment 01, and the nexus district with the colony capital is now on the bottom where the urban segments are. Unfortunately I didn't manage to grab a screenshot of this but hope that the description makes sense -- will try to update next time I colonize a ring world segment but I'm afraid of reloading or abandoning the colony to try this again in case this breaks something in a totally different way.
5) edit: the trick was to build a segment of the borked nexus section
6) once the specialization finishes, the Districts and Buildings panel should be back to normal with the Nexus District on top
7) build a building in the Nexus District (I specifically did Drone Storage -- not sure if that matters) and observe the building stays put on the next month tick

I can't guarantee that I didn't do something in between all those steps that was also necessary for this to work, but I tried to be as thorough as possible in what I remembered. If anyone else could give this a try and verify if it works or not that would be very helpful! I am on the 4.07 beta branch WITHOUT biogenesis.

Can confirm that I'm having this issue as a driven assimilator in 4.0.10.

Edit: some updates to @alveus's super-helpful workaround:
  1. It looks like the basic problem is that ringworlds start out with a City District, which doesn't work for machine empires which should start with a Nexus Segment instead.
  2. As @alveus discovered, you can fix this by making sure that the first thing you build is a Nexus Segment.
  3. This will result in weird UI bugs (looks like it's trying to fit six building slots where there's only space for three). These are fixed at the start of the new month when the City Districts section properly updates to Nexus Segments.
  4. In the meantime, it looks like you can start building anything and it'll end up working fine. For buildings I made sure to use the building slot for the Nexus Segment, not the one in the (bugged) City Districts section.
Hope this is helpful!

Having the same issue with a gestalt consciousness (rogue servitors). Restored one section of a ring, colonized it, and buildings I place in the urban section disappear after the month tick.

Of note:

- The "urban" segments are called "City Segments," while the first of what should be Unspecialized Segments is labeled "Nexus Segments"
- It's assertging that Gestalt Consciousnesses cannot build these districts
- It's asserting that I do not use district set machine_world - this looks like placeholder text

Other things to note: I used the voidborn origin, so have not directly colonized planets. I have "liberated" some bio-trophies from some neighboring empires by capturing their planets and spending influence to abandon them. All of my worlds are habitats, except this ring segment. I have also uplifted at least one species so I can take care of it. I just finished upgrading one of the other segments, so we'll see if the same thing happens to it. Big note - on the newly upgraded ring segment, the primary segments are called "Nexus Segment"s rather than "City Segments," and all of the unspecialized segments are labeled as such.

It seems like it's getting confused about what type of districts should be where on this ringworld quadrant...

With 4.0.20 Official and 4.0.21 Beta, this isn't exclusive to Rogue Servitor, but also individualist empires using Ecumenopolis (it may affect other coloney types too, but i only noticed the issue on Ecus, but not normal worlds (before/after terraforming) and also NOT on habitats, NO TESTs with Ringworlds
