I recently started having a problem where stellaris launches, but then gets stuck on the loading screen. Only a sliver of the bar fills up and there are no percentages in the bar. Eventually I hear the sound that usually happens when you get to the load screen, but it never actually shows up. This happens both with and without mods. At first I could get it to work again for 1-2 launches by doing a clean reinstall (as described in other threads). However, now it does not seem to work regardless.
Windows 10
(i should also add that it is inconsistent and will at times randomly start working again when nothing has changed, only to break on the next launch)

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

If that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

Here are the files (i think this is all of them)

That error log pretty clearly shows a corrupt installation. Did you do the clean reinstall I described, including making sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again?

Also I see several LiveKernelEvent entries in that dxdiag. That happens when the machine is forced down or spontaneously reboots. Are you seeing that, if so is it related to this game or something else?

I have done that clean reinstall a few times as described, as far as I know, my computer hasn't spontaneously rebooted, though sometimes there is a program that takes a while to close when I shut down my computer

Please delete the whole Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder again and run the game. Does a new error.log get created?

I did another install, first launch generated an error log, most errors being failed to generate indecies/verticies i believe (this may have had something to do with me alt-tabbing). I deleted the logs folder, ran it again and this time it loaded completely and it did genereate an error log, but there were only two things listed and both were some sound file was not scripted. I have yet to reinstall any mods.

So it is now running fine , is that right?

If so, and adding mods back causes the problem again, clearly there's a faulty mod here.

Hello, I am having a similar issue, however, mine consistently never gets beyond a small sliver with no percentages shown. I had uninstalled all mods before trying your suggested and other fixes from other posts.

In future please make your own new thread, thanks.

Yours looks like a problem in the nVidia driver, please try this:

- uninstall it and all other nVidia software
- reboot
- install March 2022 https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
- reboot again

Good luck!
