  • Stellaris
I'm running Stellaris under Steam with no mods & no DLCs and it stutters badly. I've searched the forum and applied suggested fixes such as exempting Stellaris in my antivirus, killed the nuisance NVidia Webhelper, and set the frame rate to 60Hz & reduced resolution. These changes did speed up the game, particularly the loading, but have not removed the stuttering, which gets worse the longer the game runs (i.e. total game time, not session time).
I welcome suggestions.
I've attached some files.

That error log is odd, any mods involved here?

Does this happen at all at game start?

Does galaxy size make any difference?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

No mods. The gam is absolute base-level, vanilla. I have been struggling to enjoy it.
DxDiag.txt attached.
At the beginning of a game in both small & huge galaxies there is no stuttering.

Several errors in the Windows Update process in there, plus a crash in nVidia. Let's try some things:

- uninstall the nVidia video driver plus all other nVidia software
- reboot
- instal May 2022 https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
- reboot again

- run the Windows Update utility
- apply everything it finds , and reboot again

- unload GeForce Experience if it is now loaded, and try the game again with a new test galaxy.

If you still get the problem, please attach here new copies of all those files above, thanks.
