Hi all, it seems like several other people are having the same issue but following their advised solutions hasn't gotten me far.

I continuously get the Visual C++ redistributable message and after installing said programs several times and clean uninstalling/reinstalling Stellaris I have not had any success. I have run stellaris for hundreds of hours on this machine before.

Here is the message that I'm receiving:

Does the game run from stellaris.exe okay?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

I was able to run DXIAG with no issues, the file is attached. However, when I follow the file path to the Stellaris folder I do not see any error log (my guess is because I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game). In addition, I don't see a logs folder present.

Looks like you hit Save All Info too soon, as that dxdiag.txt is missing lots of information. Please wait for its progress bar to finish before doing that, thanks.

Also, Right click on stellaris.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

Any different?

Sorry about that, here is the second file. I made those changes to my launcher and I didn't have any difference.

We still see no graphics/display info in there! Something is seriously wrong in Windows here.

- uninstall your nVidia driver, and all other nVidia software
- reboot
- install the 2023 one https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
- reboot again

I hope that does it!

I am running into the same sort of error; I just bought the game from your website. I'm attaching my dxdiag file here. I'd really like to play this game though!

This is (obviously) a new install; I just installed the latest version of NVIDIA drivers this morning (a clean install).

In future please make your own fresh thread, thanks.

I see no issue in that dxdiag.

Having same issue. Installed game new. Game opening screen displays then gone. Tried uninstalling and removing common folders and then reinstalling. setting.txt does not exist.

Please go here:
And run the x86 and x64 installers there.

THEN Right click on stellaris.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate to refresh rate 60.

If it still fails, run stellaris.exe directly from File Explorer - do you see a Windows error when it fails then?

Completed Visual C installation(s)--both x86 and X64. Rebooted as directed. Changed stellaris.exe properties as directed. Same symptom--splash screen displayed and then disappears. Same symptoms when run from File Explorer--no Windows error(s) evident.

I see, we have no clues as to what is wrong on your machine to cause this to you then!

What if you make a new Windows user and log into Windows as that? Do you get the same symptoms then?

New account created (administrator), same symptom-splash screen and then nothing. Steam Library shows - stop changes to play after splash screen disappears.

Windows event log shows:

Well I would post the event log results, but the supernatural moderator AI tells me that I am submitting spam...

Please attach it here in a text file instead, thanks.

I went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled both Stellaris and Steam and am now getting this error:

This error translates into 0xC0000135, which means a required DLL could not be loaded.

As Andrew already said, better to create your own thread for support, as this is a totally different problem the OP has (which is an Access Violation).
