A few version of the mod ago, the Stepstones has this interesting dynamic where by each island was a random culture. This lead to the pirates on the islands being a very colourful patchwork.

Either in the 0.7 or 0.71, this was changed and now all the Stepstones are Lysene culture. While I do think it was the right move to change things so now any culture can form the Lordship of the Stepstones, why were the culture changed?

Just curious and kinda wish the cultures weren't changed.

Not true, the stepstones base population has always been Lysene. It evolves over time through pirate mutinees and conquests and such.
