Just to let you guys know that CTD's are still around. I just had one in december 39 playing as Germany. All I was doing at the time was reviewing my leaders to see if I could promote anyone after taking Poland, and wham. Of course I saved in august of 39 before war started, but it really puts a damper on this game to have to go back and do it all over again. I really, really, really wish this game could get more stable, but it's the CTD problem that keeps me from truly enjoying this game. It's a shame, because it is a lot of fun, especially with the changes to 1.06, but why in the world does it just crash for no reason? I already know the answer to my problem, which is to save it every month, but there's something going on with this game that just isn't right when it comes to stability.

If you look at this forum you will see that the game is extemely stable!
Considering the number of players you can see very few problems reposted here.

Perhaps you should give me some system specs and see if we can figure out what is wrong.

Please run a DirectX Diagnostic:
Start menu –Run - then type Dxdiag, then select each tab across the top of the window, and run the tests on each tab. Then select “Save All Information” button in the lower right of the window. This will bring up a dialog box to allow you to select a name for the file where the information will be saved. You can save it right on the desktop as this will make it easy to find. Then copy the contents of that file from the start to the heading that says “DirectX components” then paste what you have copied into a post in this thread.

I've played HOI for the last year on two systems, and they both had CTD's. The one I'm using now is a Dell.

2.4 ghz
512 Ram
Radeon 9700 pro graphics card
21" NEC monitor

Nothing's been modified or overclocked, just a normal computer. I never get CTDs during the buildup to war, but after august of 39, that's when they happen. Usually it isn't until 40 or 41, but yesterday's when it crashed in december of 39 really caught my attention (and pissed me off) because I was under the impression that CTD's had been pretty much fixed.

I realize that Paradox has done an amazing job with this game and I truly love playing it. Thanks for your reply.

I'll give your a suggestion a try.

You gave me the info I told you you could leave out. :)
It is the first half of the info I need.
Also yes turn your auto save function on.

Whoops! That's what I get for reading too fast. Here's the stuff I think you're looking for!

Don't see anything jumping out at me yet, but I notice you did not run the tests like I asked though. Can you run those and see if it reports any problems, You don't have to repost the info just let me know what it says.

I did run the tests and got these results:

------------
DxDiag Notes
------------
DirectX Files Tab: No problems found.
Display Tab 1: No problems found.
Sound Tab 1: No problems found.
Sound Tab 2: No problems found.
Music Tab: No problems found.
Input Tab: No problems found.
Network Tab: No problems found.

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messanger, Virus protection and everyhting in the system tray beside the clock.
