I posted a similar thread a few months ago, but I wondered if anyone has since produced an exhaustive set of either tutorial videos or something similar that explains how you play this game. I bought it months ago and haven't had much time to play it, but so far I've not played a single game or made a single move in-game because I have absolutely no idea what you are meant to do and how you know whether something is a good idea or not.

I have CKII and learned to play that from a very in depth set of videos on youtube, without something similar I can't see me being able to learn this game because like all paradox games of this nature it is completely incomprehensible unless you have someone to show you how to play it.

It's a shame to have bought this and just have it sitting there unable to be played.

I've had to go back to reading the manual from front to back again because I've forgotten a lot of the stuff I already knew.

My biggest problem is with the interface in general, and more specifically not entering myself into wars that I have no chance of winning. I attacked a small country (hessen, or something like that) and then found out that they were not only supported by the HRE, but also Austria which screwed me massively. I'm not sure where in the interface I could have seen that Austria would join in. They certainly weren't in coalition.

There's a lot of things in this game where I know something about the mechanics of what is happening, but I also just feel like I'm flailing around randomly whenever I make a move, and I don't particularly like playing in that way.

I don't really know much about how you should approach going to war, what sort of troops you should build, and what if anything you should do in order to make encounters favourable to your forces when they occur. ALl I know how to do is assign CIC's and flank leaders and then move the stack into battle. I get the concept of frontage, but am not sure on it, I sort of get the concept of supply, but am not sure on it.... I just feels there's too much uncertainty going on here.

You might want to check out the AAR subforum. You can read reports people have written from games, and there are a good number of lets play videos on youtube.

This link will take you to the LibrAARy, which contains links to all current AARs and Let's Play's.
