Hi

Just joined this forum so I could ask this.
I am enjoying playing your mod (2.02), it is really good, good job! However after playing Starfire, I miss the longer battles that Starfire gave.
Is it possible to combine the two mods? I think I would need to move to replace HSR units folder with Starfires' making sure I keep the HSR engineer file for the HD's.
Is this how it would work? Deos anyonemind me doing this?

Cheers

That is a funny request. HSR has the longest fights for HOI2 and some people complained about how tough this feature becomes in very specific situations (which is true by the way but they are so specific that it is worth living with it). That is also the reason why we had to decreased a lot the experience gain rate. Just to let you know we took defence efficiency to the limit (by actual testing so it works), which means that unless Paradox changes something you could not increase any further the duration of battles unless you significantly reduce the attack points of all units which reduces exponentially the modding capabilities for us. I will check it out anyway but I think you got something wrong there.

OK, I can tell you I tried but even though I found the site of starfire the download of the mod is not existent, at least at the moment, so I can not really check the changes there apart from reading the changelog which I quickly did and from what I saw I am impressed of how similar their changes stated for the misc file (governing several combat issues) is to ours not only in combat but several other areas. If I remember some other day I will try getting into the site again and see if I can download the mod so that I can see the real changes. That is the best I can promise.

If HSR already uses the adjustments to ground_def_eff then there really is nothing else to combine. As Aregorn points out the only other option really is to reduce combat values and that has serious problems.

Sorry but the B4 release apparently never got uploaded to the server. That will be fixed this afternoon. (Aregorn - if you really want to check it out before this afternoon just change the 4 to a 3 in the download link and grab the previous version)

Hm, the battles did not seem any longer to me for HSR, when compared with vanilla, usually a battle takes around a day or two, were as starfire battles took about a week?
Have i dont something wrong on installation? I didnt think i had!!

The length of a combat is very dependent upon the forces involved. If one side is significantly stronger then it will be very short (can be less than a day) but if equal forces meet then Starfire battles will tend to take around four days (normal conditions). (assuming I'm remembering the results of my testing reasonably accurately) In bad weather or other bad conditions then a battle could drag out for a long time.

Can anyone else comment on how long HSR battles last? I'd be curious to know (might be valuable to learn from each other).

Managed to get an Hour or so in with HSR 2.02 and it does actually seem to take longer than vanilla, after i manager to get pretty even forces.
I still feel that Starfire is a bit longer, a combat took 2 weeks!
Anyway this is good, thanks for the Help! Great mod! btw can you port the new interface graphics to vanilla? Sometimes i like starting a germany in 1944 or 45. Just copy the GFX folder over??
Sorry bout all the question im a total n00b to this game!

Cheers

Thanks for the comment Mithel, it saved me some research there :)
