Is there a way to stop the CD access once the copy protection is passed?

I have a noisy CDROM that drowns you the sound completely and I really will not miss the three audio tracks as I do not have a CDROM audio cable run to my sound card.

Why, in the computer age to people still use CDROM based software, install the darn thing and let it run from fast hard drives.

If there is no way to turn this off, it's going right back to EBWorld without my bothering to start reading the manual. I was looking so forward to this game. It would be sad if I now have to toss it due to this silliness.

Please tell me it's not so...

I beleive there isn't any way to completely stop it, but disabling the music from ingame would greatly reduce it I beleive...
You can also try to first copy the whole CD to the HDD and then install from there, don't know if that works, but you could try. You of course need the CD-ROM in the drive when you start as the copy-protection checks that...

Since yor not stating what version you have all I can say is that for my swedish version I don't even have to have the CD in the cd-rom, except for when the game starts up. Try if it works with yours.

I have US version 1.07c

In other threads I've read some posts regarding a sound FX control that wasn't working.

My question is what sound FX control? I have not seen any screen even allowing me to attempt to adjust any sound or music properties.

Is there a control? How do I get to it? How can I turn the music off so the CD isn't constantly spinning?
