I started in the OG start with the Duke of Anjou. I managed to become the titular King of the Franks and first in the line of the election for King of West Francia. My demesne is (was) the county of Tours, Anjou, Vendome, Paris and the duchy of Anjou. Kaiser Giselbert, holder of Kingdom of West Francia (and every other Kingdom in the Carolingian Empire), the county of Dunois, Orleans and Sancerre died under suspicious cirumstances and I inhertited East Francia, Dunois, Orleans and Sancerre. BUT all my other title went to the new Emperor Ogier. So my demesne shrank from five to three holdings and I lost the duchy of Anjou. I also lost some de jure vassals of West Francia: The Duke of Alencon, Duke of Neustria, Duchess of France, Count of Bayeux and Evreux and maybe some other dudes.
Can somebody explane me this?

We can't mod the effects of inheritance laws. So I'd suggest looking at each title in question and seeing what its inheritance law is, and who the expected successor is. That should explain it.

They are all Agnatic Primogenature

Okay. So...what? You want someone to look at your save before the inheritance took place and tell you what's happening?

I was more incredulous than making an offer, but fair enough.

Loaded up your the_Franks save, and the ruler has the titular Kingdom of the Franks, the Duchies of Luxembourg and Anjou, and four counties. Killed him, and all titles were inherited by his son.

Is there something else I'm supposed to be seeing? Your ruler didn't have any of the other titles you mentioned (like East Francia), so I'm not sure if you sent me the wrong save or what.

Who? My ruler? No, not him. Kill the Emperor. In the West_Francia savegame the Emperor died and my ruler inherited west francia and the other odd stuff happend.

Ah.

Yes, it does appear as if you inherit West Francia -- but then lose all your other duchies and counties, and are then "re-distributed" counties according to the inheritance laws of some of the Emperor's other titles (which are all either Gavelkind or Elective Gavelkind). A bizarre result, to be certain, and likely a vanilla bug associated with having the mixed laws. Gavelkind causes some very weird results (Elective Gavelkind in particular).

Do you think I can report this as a vanilla bug?

Not if it's encountered in a mod, no, even if it's a situation which could potentially be encountered in vanilla.

ANd is there a way to prevent this from happening?

Not to my knowledge. The system obviously counts you as an heir (or one of the heirs) to the Emperor, but why it would take away your existing titles as it's redistributing is a mystery.

I was expecting these answers.

Thank you very much for investigating my issue and have a nice holyday season (In the case you are the right culture/religion/location for that). I will start a new game to further enjoy your mod.
