Playing as Germany in the 1936 Grand Campaign. Have stayed relatively historical thus far (Anshluss, Partition of Czecholslovakia, Claiming Memel, No early wars etc.) The Axis now consists of Germany, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, Persia & Argentina. It's April 1939 and I am well on my way to having a force, I believe, that can take on the Allies come September 1 (Invasion of Poland). However, Italy has just declared war on Albania...a country I trade with regularly and have a GOI on. So...

Would you invade Italy, even if it means delaying war with the Allies into 1940...

Or, stay the historical path and invade Poland in the fall of 1939?

Just like to get opinions/experiences from other players before I decide

Definitely don't invade Italy. They always declare on Albania, and what stuff exactly do you trade with them for?, as IIRC they are very small in term of resources anyway.

Albania really isn't important, but it gives me a CB on Italy, so no dissent hit for declaring. I have found that Italy might actually be net liability against the allies, especially if you don't military control them, as it opens another front in Libya. Capturing Northern Italy would give me another route into France, and may be an interesting route to go

Yeah, as the were in real life to some extent. Still for a historical game (which I always do) and to make sure its as challenging as possible, that my recommendation. Also are you playing vanilla?, because there are some excellent mods out there which will vastly improve your enjoyment.

Arma 1.3 with various picture mods (mostly GIP) other than that vanilla...and I tend to drift into the ahistorical realm, which is why the barely defended Northern Italy region looks sooooo tempting.
