To colonize 100+ provinces can really feel like a drag sometimes. What is the best strategy to take towards colonizations? Should you try to develop each colony to a colonial city (700 inhab.) as soon as possible or should you just send in one or two and let the province develop into a city by its own means. I would like your advice on colonies in Asia, North America etc with good growth potentials.

1- First, claim as much as possible provinces by building Trade posts in specific areas (north america, India, etc.);

2- Then try to upgrade some of these TP to a colony. Reach at least the 700 inhabitants level (in NA, 1400 elsewhere generally)

These colonies will be very useful: They will bring an income, that is good, but will give you the opportunity to build eventually ships to start new expeditions and discover new areas (repeat steps 1 and 2). Try to building colonies in a regular geographical scale to avoid attrition.

Economy and Strategy are the two main criteras.

A few good spots:

If you want to colonize North America, take from Portugal the Açores; from Portugal too, Cape Verde and Ferdinand Po (both in African coast) or St-Helen Island to colonize Africa, colonize Table in Sout Africa too.
