Sub-forum announcements

Hi Kallocain,

Thanks to SAS, i've recently discovered the Announcements that can be placed on the sub-forums, i guess by the local moderators. Thanks a lot for this neat feature.

To nitpick, i was wondering if it was possible to make them a little more visible, more prominent ? ... It appears that many haven't seen them on the forum page.

Oh, i've sometimes seen them, like for EUIII forums, although i indeed sometimes don't check them, as they are not noticeable enough.

What i just discovered is that, as MEIOU forum moderator, i could add some in my corner of the Paradox Plaza.


A cool feature i'd love to have in the MEIOU forum (possibly other modders could appreciate it too), is to be able to place polls

Polls are generally a staff only ability, but just ask a DM to put one up for you, the announcements depend on who set you up and what rights they gave you.
Things like user groups are a real rat warren that have just evolved for the last dozen years and what worked when you had 6 does not work as well with 60 or more.
I really need to take the forum down for 12 hours one night and redo them all from scratch, problem is they would probably take a few days to do them properly.

I noticed the announcement that Gigau posted in the MEIOU sub-forum was overridden by Kallocain's announcement about the forum downtime. Is that a drawback of the announcement design? Only one allowed? I'm not complaining just curious.

His is there, just scroll down, only the most recent is displayed. If you click on it, you can see them all.

Perhaps there should be a way to know there are other announcements... I never noticed, and i never thought about scrolling down o

The announcements can definitely be made to stand out more. Atleast on deapoceanedited. I pretty much missed it entirely and only saw it by accident. Also, until I read this thread, I did not know that they were scrollable. So that's something that could be improved also to make it more clear/natural.

It is placed at the top of the forum, how can it be made more noticeable than that.
We do not want it obnoxious.
