I'm not sure, but i think most of the times the speed is set high. The most recent CtD for Eu2 was when i paused the game and i offered an annexation to the aztec's in a random game playing with spain.
They occupied the island with the provinces of moron, havana and a third one. I captured them all offered them annexation, and at that moment when i klicked at the button it crashed. With HOI i can't say a thing cos i own it less then a day at this moment:D.
I do get some crashes with UT, but i think this happens cos i play user made lvl's, with modified bot's and a somewhat illigal version (copied the intire dir from a friend and patch it for No-cd).
Further have a small problem with jagged alliance 2, but this isn't a crash only a temporarely lockup of the system, wich autosolves and the game continiues.

The only thing that worries me is the latest drivers that i got for the audigy. When i installed it (got it from the official site), it deinstalled the current one and the installed the new one. After a reboot win-xp says that several items were not correctly installed and i needed to reinstall them. I used the cd to install those items while the update's remained.
I think i'll just deinstall everything and install the original once more.
Maybe i'll pack my pc and bring it next weekend to my brother and install all the latest drivers. And then i can directly oversee everything.
I don't have much knowledge about drivers and stuff, so i'll have to ask my brother(only he isn't so cooperative:rolleyes: ), but if i can contact someone who has a little more knowhow about these things i think we can solve this once and for all.

Well, you still haven't told us what chipset you have with your Athlon, but the temp. lockup doesn't sound good.

When I still had those bugged VIA drivers installed, Age of Mythology had a nasty habit of temp. lockups, only with a twist. At first the weren't hardly noticable, but over time within a single game (roughly about an hour or so), the lockup time would slowly increase to the point that the game became unplayable.

Haven't had that kind of trouble anymore from the moment I ditched the VIA drivers for the chipset, and replaced them with stock Microsoft drivers.

Unfortunately, you cannot do that quite so easily, as you run Windows XP, and that platform uses those VIA drivers as stock ones.

Regarding the Audigy. Most of the time it is a bad idea to use files from two different versions concurrently. All sorts of nasty things kan happen if you do. Uninstall the lot, and install driver files from one version only. Don't mix them.

Another thing to try is to lower the acceleration of your sound and video cards, try the sound one at different settings first and see if that helps.

Well, i installed the latest drivers for everything, so this is ready.

As for the lockup this only happens with JA2 and only at certain places in the game. I haven't tried it out with the new drivers.

I'll see if the games still give these sudden crashes.(HOI + EU2)
