Has anyone else experienced a sudden decrease in travel time? All of a sudden I saw huge lines for vehicles to enter their depots without me having changed anything.

The only thing I could think of happening is the game time slowing down while the simulation kept its pace thereby requiring less vehicles for each line. This would also decrease the travel duration. I can't think of a way to reliably test this hypothesis so I'm asking if anyone else has had this happen to them.

If this savegame uses a ruleset, and the ruleset is changed, loading this savegame will automatically result in loading the changed ruleset.
In other words: rulesets are not stored in the savegame itself rather than linked to it.
This way you can change the settings of an ongoing game by just changing the used rulesets.

If you are not using any rulesets, then this would indicate a change in the standard game settings as you explained. However, I did not noticed such change.

I always had problems understanding this charts. Even after making a whole explanation of all of them in the Interactive Guide. A simples X and Y label would help a lot.

Try looking at the Monthly view and see if that behaviour repeats in the past.
If you changed a setting in the ruleset that could explain why the sudden drop happens on Sunday and persists for a while.

If not, maybe you recently open a metro service? Or simply added a connection that made several routes be more efficient.

Remember not to change the game speed in the ruleset after you began playing. I did it and the pace of time shown on the clock (and daytime-nighttime) changed but the time for vehicles dispatch didn't and so they left the depots not according to the clock, thus the game was ruined.

Possibly, with the latest patch loading times at extremely busy stops have DRAMATICALLY decreased (thank you CO). This of course, leads to faster commutes and thereby shorter travel time for the vehicles.

In the past I had stops with over a thousand passengers waiting. It would take 5-10 game minutes for the buses to load. Now it takes about as long as stops with 1-20 passengers. My vehicles would get backed up at these stops trying to load the passengers. Now they move pretty smoothly. (Does not make up for lousy pathfinding but a significant advance in gameplay, imho.)
