I’ve always thought it would be incredibly useful to have a system in EU5 that allows players to create their own custom alerts. While the game already provides default notifications for major events, the ability to set personalized reminders would greatly enhance gameplay flexibility and quality of life.

Potential Use Cases:
- Strategic Reminders:
- "It's nearly 1480—prepare for the second war with the Ottomans!"
- Cooldown Tracking:
- "You can use [X ability/mission/decision] again now."
- Custom Milestones:
- Example: "Check trade nodes in 10 years" or "Alliance treaty expires soon."

Benefits:
- Greater Control: Players can tailor alerts to their specific playstyle or campaign goals.
- Reduced Micromanagement: Helps avoid missing key timings without constant manual checks.
- Enhanced Immersion: Adds a layer of personalization to long-term planning.

While I don’t expect this feature to be prioritized for EU5’s initial release, I believe it would make an excellent quality-of-life improvement in future updates or expansions.

I'm from time to time playing with a friend, and we rename fleets and armies in order to remember where we were. Such a system would be great, especially since, even in solo, you can forget what you were doing and miss key moments you told yourself you should go back to.

It's not at all a GSG, but KSP has a "clock" mod that does that. It would really be a great addition to the UI.

I know in EU4 there are times I use this, but normally for things where there is a missing notification.
  • Remind me in August, when I should have enough admin power to increase stability
  • Remind me on the 1st of the month when I should make those ships leave port
In the past there were a lot more, but as notifications have improved they aren't as necessary anymore.

A bonus of adding a customisable timer like that is that telemetry might then be able to collect info about the importance of different missing notifications.

Johan has shown some interest in at least one of the previous threads about something like this. Don't know if it's getting implemented. Took a while for the pause key to happen, but someone says that this feature has been requested already in EU3, and I'm quite sure it's been requested several times for EU4, so it's not impossible they could do this.

Good to see that they are aware of it. With them being this open to feedback and requests, a man can only hope!
