I found when working my way through the 'Ragnarok Armada' mission that I tended to have many more aircraft in the air than I'd really expect. That might be contributing to the performance problem, but I pretty much launched every aircraft on every ship...especially on the southern group, to push over the southern enemy airbase.
Needless to say, a LOT of AMRAAMS were quickly fired...at the enemy aircraft, and at the dozens and dozens of antiship missiles. And then...the F-35s kept going to the designated patrol zones, and kept patrolling them.
With no missiles.
I had to try to hunt through this pile of dozens of F-35s to find the ones with empty missile racks and order them to RTB.
It'd be nice to have that as an operations order, or maybe one of the 'battle planner' orders..."automatically return to base when primary weapon (or maybe just 'missiles', generally) is empty". Having a dozen F-35s circling the enemy airbase armed with nothing but the gun and yet only 2-5% towards 'bingo fuel', when they could be back on the carriers re-arming, is...not an effective use of aircraft (or my poor system's resources!).
