Hi. This is my first post and it's about an annoying issue I've previously had with most or all City building games.

One of the issues I've had with all the past SimCity games (and other City-builders) was the planning of road construction. I would usually have an idea in mind, build it, make a couple of mistakes and just go on since it would be too expensive to demolish and restart. Therefore, I suggest a Road Planner Tool.

When you enable the Road Planner mode (probably just a button), all roads are constructed as usual except that they are transparent to distinguish them from existing roads. A single price is shown for the entire construction and you can freely create and delete roads until your final design has been made or completely scrap it. This will eliminate the annoyance of accidentally building roads and elevated roads improperly and unnecessarily wasting money.

Alternatively, making all purchases and demolitions of those purchases free in pause mode and being irreversibly charged once the the game is resumed could also serve as a "road planner".

So, in summary:

  • Road Planner Tool - Free purchasing and editing of those roads until the desired design has been reached (limited to your bank balance)
  • Pause Planner (Alternative)- Free purchasing and editing of any structure until the desired design has been reached (limited to your bank balance)

If roads are free to demolish after being recently built then this solution is rendered null, but I have not read about such a feature yet .

Hmm, can you plan coasters with no cost in-game? I had no idea about this either, haha.

Oh yes! You build your RollerCoaster outside the main play mode (its a mode call Coaster builder or something) and then when you have the perfect coaster, you save it and it becomes available in your main game! (you have to buy it in game though. The game estimates the cost.)

Ah, yes, that makes sense. Doesn't let you take your current park into consideration though.
