Hi everyone, I have not played Vic 3 as of yet, I was hoping for some opinions on whether or not the game in it's current state is enjoyable with no DLC or would you say buying the DLC makes the experience better (in like a night and day sorta way).

Appreciate any one who takes the time to give their two cents! Thank you

If you just start out, none of the mechanics added with Sphere of Influence or Charters of Commerce will matter much, as you have more than enough other mechanics to learn and have fun with to even realize what you're missing.
They're good and fun, but paradox was actually quite good at making sure the DLC isn't required to just play the game (as is the case with a few others in other PDX games).
If you really want to play Brazil or France, the country flavor packs do change the experience quite a bit, but they, by definition, barely have an effect if you play anyone else.

Okay awesome, so it isn't like HOI 4 where the game can feel really bland without DLC then?

No, the base game is fine too, but if you like the concept you'll want at least CoC and SoI, but I recommend the 3 country(/region) specific packs too eventually because they change how the AI behaves for these countries. I just bought Pivot and I haven't played an EIC game yet (next on my list) but it was huge difference what happened to the Britain and Raj AIs.

Mods like Morgenroete can be nice too, though I personally don't like additional mechanic-heavy mods while the game matures as even the modders don't have access to the game's full potential.

Spheres of Influence is probably nice to get at some point, but if you play with 0 DLCs, you still get a really good experience. I'd argue there isn't any you need to get before first time playing.

Okay that makes sense, thank you for this, I would like to get it and play as probably Spain or Sweden to get the grasp of everything so if you don't think there is anything additional needed to enjoy that experience then that's great to hear. I also don't like to rely to heavy on mods only because of the potential for said mod not getting support anymore at any given time

Sounds good thank you, If I enjoy the game enough I will more than likely buy all current DLC, I have seen SOI being very well received

Can't go wrong with Sweden, I think it's a tutorial nation too:) There's also a neat little mod called Three Brothers (or something like that) that adds new journal entries and character ideologies for Sweden/Norway/Denmark (and a redux version that's basically just the journal entries). I'd hold off on Spain as they'll get a DLC later this year, but they are also a good country for any level of familiarity.
