hi to everyone nice enough to click on my SOS. im in australia and have a copy of eu2 from america. Ive been running it fine on my old computer with patch 7.0 and everything. However i recently bought a new computer with XP and bla bla and found that EU2 only will work without the patch. With the patch installed, as soon as i click start on any campaign then the game goes to a black screen and then just crashes. could everyone send me as many reccomendations as possible, for i am becoming desperate to conquer the world again

First steps:

1: rename your avi folder in the EUII folder to something else

2: upgrade all your drivers, esp, for your graphics adapter

3: Upgrade WinXP as much as possible using winupdate

4: upgrade directX as much as possible.

If that doesn't work, I need some more specs on your new computer

Binkplay and the AVI folder are the main reasons for XP problems.

I had the exact same problem as the original post and fixed it the same way. Since I have the latest XP updates I renamed the avi folder back to original and it is working ok on 1.07.
I think the problem comes from the fact that the BINK is running as a seperate program (as you can see from the task manager), but also under EU.

I had that problem too....when it asked me<the game>if I wanted to update my directx I told it no. Hadn't had a problem since.

XP was bugged, they issued an update to address the problem.
Bink is bugged, no prgress there yet.
